If you’ve never heard her name, Jenna Jameson is one of today’s most popular actresses in adult movies and adult magazines. HOW TO MAKE LOVE LIKE A PORN STAR is meant for adults only, 18 or older, as it contains nude photographs and pretty graphic accounts from the actress’s life. I think for anyone thinking that stripping, posing nude, and making a living by having sex is pretty easy, this book is truly an eye-opener. I have often wondered why someone would choose that career path, and I think episodes from Jenna’s life offer the insight to better understanding her choices. The book starts with Jenna’s troubled childhood. Her mother died young, her father’s job as a police officer led to long hours, her stepmother was abusive and cruel, and a gang rape followed by a second rape in her teen years helped pave her way. The wrong image of love and passion, followed by a desperate need to make large amounts of money in short amounts of time, helped fuel her fire. She learned that men would pay huge amounts of money to see her strip as a teenager, and her career took off. At her age, you can easily understand how and why she made those choices. As she matured, you can also understand why she so desperately wanted to change her life and get out of the business. Jenna’s autobiography is pretty graphic. Discussion of her sexual trysts, drug use, and Hollywood gossip abound. I have a feeling some encounters may have been embellished. Jenna never promotes entering the world of porn movies. She doesn’t apologize for her choices, as she shouldn’t have to, but she doesn’t recommend it to others either. Not everyone is going to appreciate this book, she was a porn star, and I know there will be many who cannot forgive her for that. My advice to those is then don’t buy the book; no one is forcing you to read it. However, I found her to be an admirable woman, and I hope she finds the peace she so desires. I think she deserves her moment of true happiness.
