The Duke of Fletcher (Fletch) and Pedita (Poppy) have been married for about four years and the passion seems to have gone from their marriage. Poppy would like to get Fletch back into her bed again but hasn’t come up with a way to do it. Fletch would like to get back with Poppy but feels she doesn’t want any part of him.

Much of the book deals with Poppy’s friend, Jemma, who has problems of her own, but who offers Poppy suggestions on just how to manage her marriage, and with Poppy’s mother, Lady Flora, who is overbearing and would like to see Poppy free of Fletch.
