What can you do if your aging car decides to blow up in a cloud of smoke and fire? If you are Mary Rosenthal, you’ll enter the contest at WLVH (Love Handles) hoping to win a brand new pickup truck. Of course, if you are selected as one of the “winners,” you will be required to live in the truck with your co-winner until you are the last one to leave the truck. It doesn’t help that your co-winner, Ethan Westbrook, is a gorgeous hunk and is determined to win the truck for his business. Things start to heat up very quickly. 

I found PICK UP LINES to be thoroughly enjoyable and easily read in one sitting. The final outcome is kept secret until the final pages, but I was rooting for Mary as she seemed to need the truck more than Ethan. 

While Holly Jacobs has written over twenty category titles, PICKUP LINES is the first for Avalon Books. She has another book, LOVE HANDLES, due later in 2005. I’ll certainly be watching for it.
