THE COURIER has Melanie Jackson written all over it. Like Outsiders, it involves goblins and fey and adds vampires and pookas to the mix. Again this book is not just for romance fans, it is definitely a fantasy lovers book as well. Lyris Damsel is a reporter with a hunch about the assassination of John F. Kennedy. She knew that his assassination was no ordinary assassination. When she receives a tip from an anonymous ally, a video tape that shows that goblins were present during JFK's assassination, it sparks her long time desire to get to the bottom of it. Lyris decides to start a quest in which she hopes to prove that King Quede, The Goblin King of New Orleans, was behind the whole assassination. Lyris decided to go check out the Goblin King for herself. Not only did she believe he was behind the murder, she also believed he was more than just a goblin; and she was going to prove it. When she arrived in New Orleans, she got more then she bargained for with Roman Hautecoeur. She was advised by her connection, Jack Frost, that he could be trusted, but his wild pooka ways made her very cautious. Not to mention his playfulness and constant jokes. When a goblin preacher, a Christian preacher at that, confirmed Lyris's suspicions that Quede was a vampire, she had to drop her guard and let Roman in on her assumptions. She confided in him her reason for being in New Orleans. To get proof that he was indeed behind JFK's assassination. That is when things really got moving. Jackson is a wonderful story teller, with an imagination as big as they come. I love reading her books, they take me to a world that is full of wonder and magic, and this one has a bit of history as well. Her characters are intriguing and mystical. They are also full of animal magnetism; you can feel the sexual tension between Roman and Lyris. To find out what happens with Quede and all his goblin minions, you will just have to read it for yourself. I would definitely recommend THE COURIER. It was action packed and full of wonderful descriptions, even down to the gyrations of the strippers. It has something for everyone: magic, murder, mystery, romance, action, kidnapping, vampires and much more. Again, Jackson made these characters so real that I didn't want it to end. Jackson is definitely an author that can keep her readers interested. I will be looking for more books by her.
