Historical romance author Clare Wingate has found herself in another situation she thought never to find herself in again:  waking up in a strange room, naked and apparently having slept with a total stranger.  But wait!  The guy that comes out of the bathroom isn't a complete stranger - he's Sebastian Vaughan, her childhood crush now grown up into a sexy hot world reknowned journalist. 

Having caught her fiance with the washing machine repairman, Clare must now face the facts that her life as she knew it is gone.  What's more, she must see Sebastian again because his father works for her mother and they are constantly bumping into one another.  Her girlfriends think there's nothing wrong with having some fun with Sebastian to get her mind off her ex-fiance, but he rubs Clare the wrong way. 

Sebastian thought he was doing Clare a favor by rescuing her from her pity party drunken self at the hotel bar that night.  What he gets instead is grief.  With his mother's death still fresh, he tries to reestablish a relationship with his father, who is the gardener for Joyce Wingate, Clare's mother.  Bumping into Clare certainly is entertaining and has been exciting, but he doesn't need the grief that comes along with that baggage.
