Rachel Gibson is one of my favorite authors
and one of the reasons why is TRULY MADLY YOURS. A sexy combination of
humor, tension and a bad boy on a Harley just can’t be beat. The
pretext is two old flames coming back together through unusual
circumstances. What makes this book really work is that neither Delaney
Shaw nor Nick Allegrezza are eager to admit their attraction to one
another is still there.
Delaney’s stepfather kills himself, so she comes back to the town she
left ten years ago, Truly, Idaho, and comes face to face with Nick; the
man her step father caught her naked with on top of a car hood. Delaney
left town after that.
Everyone assumed that Delaney left town because she was pregnant and
Nick was left behind to face those rumors. When Delaney comes back to
town for the reading of her step father’s will, she is matched up
against Nick for the inheritance - you see Nick was her step father’s
illegitimate son. The provisions state that Delaney will inherit her
share ($3 Million smackeroos) if she stays in Truly for one year, she
gets it all. If not, then Nick gets it. Nick will only get his share
only if he will not engage in a sexual relationship with Delaney. The
scheming dead father knew his son and knew Nick wanted Delaney. Telling
him no was just as good as getting it done. You see, old step father
wanted an heir. The son he wouldn’t claim was his only link to a
legacy.
Both Nick and Delaney fight their attraction, which makes for some great
sexual tension. The townspeople all play minor roles, but they come
together so efficiently that you don’t really realize that you are being
led into this wonderful small town life, with their gossip and schemes,
complete with all those childhood insecurities coming back to haunt you.
With Nick having hang ups which include sleeping with a passle of women,
he isn’t looking for a long term relationship. Delaney isn’t going to
settle for a one night stand. Can these two ever get it together so
they can get together? Of course you know what the outcome is going to
be, but the getting there is so much fun! Nick’s reluctance to accept
that the woman he’s always loved might in fact love him back almost does
him in. Learning to trust each other and finally letting their feelings
known is the key, but you totally sympathize with both characters and
what they had to go through.
This book was even better the next time I read it. Did I mention hot?
The chemistry between these two nearly leaps off the page. The closet
scene alone is worth finding this book for. TRULY MADLY YOURS marked
Gibson’s name down as a must buy author for me. If you are looking for
a fun, sexy book that will lead you out of a reading slump or one to
enjoy on a rainy day on the couch, look no further than Rachel Gibson
and TRULY MADLY YOURS. It sits on my keeper shelf, all nice and snug
between her other ones. Safe and sound.
