Piper
Millbrook has taken over her family’s business after the death of her
father. Her grandfather has
decided that his only grandchild would run the business since Piper has
been trained, practically, from birth for this role.
Enter Tyler Quinn, Piper’s brand new client, a world-renowned
painter who has skyrocketed to the top of the art world. Piper knows everything that there is to know about him, or
does she? Tyler
Quinn, otherwise known as Detective Tyler Muldoon, is investigating a
drug laundering business in which all of the evidence suggests that
Piper and her grandfather are managing in addition to their artists.
He doesn’t mind the case and wants to put everyone connected to
in prison. Is Piper really
involved in the money laundering, or are his instincts about her
correct? CAPTURED
HEART was an entertaining romance novel set in a big city. The obvious
plot line was the romance, while the back-story was the money laundering
case. I felt that there
were clichés used to move the story along.
For example, Tyler was supposed to be some kind of a maverick
police officer and smooth guy, but he was really a man who has a son and
is close to his family. I
realize that this was the reputation that the author was trying to
develop for the character, but I felt that she was trying to hard.
I also felt that the other characters weren’t as well
developed. I really
didn’t feel that I got to know any of the characters, even though they
were introduced early into the story. As a result, I didn’t develop any empathy for them. CAPTURED HEART is truly a form of light reading. The prologue really captured my interest and I guess I was a little disappointed when Ms. Getridge used such obvious clichés to further the plot of her book.
