A D Hunter Mystery

Apparently, the character Night from THE ACCIDENTAL HUNTER appeared in an earlier Nelson George book titled NIGHT WORK. As THE ACCIDENTAL HUNTER was my introduction to Nelson George, I may have missed some background on Night, but I never felt out of sync with the story. D Hunter is a security specialist who has been hired to find Night. Night is the victim of an apparent kidnapping, and D is the only person Ivy Greenwich, Night's music manager, knows can deliver the ransom and ensure Night's safe release. Meanwhile, his need for money has D agreeing to take Greenwich's next request, D will be kept on as a bodyguard to one up-and-coming pop-star, Bridgette Haze. Bridgette is a Britney Spears type who is trying to break into the world of hip-hop. Her first plan of action is to host the hip-hop awards ceremony. Not everyone smiles upon Bridgette's actions, but it isn't long before D is finding himself attracted to the blonde siren. THE ACCIDENTAL HUNTER is well-written and will find a huge appeal with those looking for a gritty, hip mystery or for those who are into the hip-hop realm. However, I'm afraid I'm just not into the hip-hop scene. The music does little for me; so regardless of how well the author portrayed that aspect of music, the attitudes and the lingo, I never truly appreciated the characters.
