When two teenagers, Kenneth Tyler and his sister Corrie suspect something is wrong with their father’s burial, they visit the gravesite and discover that his body is not in the casket they bought for him. Even worse, they discover that the undertaker, Fenton Breece, has been doing some really grotesque things to the corpses. Armed with some incriminating photos, Tyler sets out to bring the undertaker to justice but first he has to outrun Granville Sutter, a local strongman hired by Breece to recover the evidence. What follows is a macabre pursuit through the Harrikin, backwoods filled with rusting machinery, confusing roads, and eccentric squatters. TWILIGHT, with its underlying theme of good versus evil, contains a southern setting. Unfortunately, I found it difficult to keep up with the plot. I spent a lot of time going back to passages to reread narrative. While the setting comes across clear, I found I spent too much time trying to clarify issues or check for information thinking I had missed something vital to the story. |
