Set in Boston, Massachusetts, Lisa Gardner's new suspense novel is certain to excite her readers.  Packed with non-stop suspense, ALONE keeps you on the edge of your seat from start to finish.

Bobby Dakota is having a casual night out when his beeper goes off.  A man is holding his wife and child hostage at gun point.  Bobby's job as a sniper for the SWAT team is critical in a situation such as this.  Much to Bobby's dismay, he is forced to kill the man.  This is only the beginning of the nightmare.

As a young girl, Catherine Gagnon was kidnapped, held hostage in an underground prison, and sexually abused for almost a month.  With her past far behind her, she hoped to move on.  Unfortunately, she did move on--right into an abusive relationship.  Catherine thought she would be cherished, especially given the fact that her new husband is also the son of one of the area's most esteemed judges.  However, her husband's death is more of a release for her, until she is accused of setting up his murder and abusing her son.

What neither Bobby or Catherine know is that a killer has just been freed, and he has them in his sights.  Hired by a mysterious benefactor, "Mr. Bosu" has a mission.  A mission he is determined to see through no matter the cost.

Twists and turns abound from start to finish.  For the most part, I found the story to be mesmerizing.  There was a final twist, however, that threw me off the course.  Of course, I cannot reveal it because it would be a spoiler, but I can't understand the logistics to this plot twist.  It takes a stretch of the imagination for me to make it work out.

Regardless, there is a lot going in Lisa Gardner's new book.  Mystery fans will love it.  Tami Hoag fans will quickly make room on their shelves for Lisa's book.  Those looking for a little more suspense will need to look no further!
