Yasmine Galenorn continues the Chintz n' China Mysteries with her latest installment of murder and mayhem aptly titled MURDER UNDER A MYSTIC MOON. Once again, the reader is drawn into the life of Emerald O'Brien, tea-shop owner, mother, and mystic sleuth. Emerald's life is a mixture of the mundane and mysterious--her time being divided between raising her two children, developing a relationship with her boyfriend, Joe, and solving crimes that are more than meet the eye. With the aid of her best friend and policewoman, Murray, Emerald sets out to discover who (or what) is behind the murder of a biker. The murder victim is found alone in the woods under mysterious circumstances and the police are more than willing to chalk up the crime to an animal attack or a drug-deal gone wrong, but Emerald senses that something more sinister lurks behind the scenes. With rumors of a monster on the loose, Emerald and Murray (with the help of a few unlikely allies) strive to discover just where the line between truth and myth lies in this exciting new installment of the Chintz n' China series. As usual, Galenorn delivers a rollercoaster ride--plots with more twists and turns than your average Agatha Christie novel and a lot more steam! The characters are likeable and the dialogue is witty and compelling. Emerald and Joe's romance certainly heats up in this latest novel and previous readers will find new developments on the fore for several of their favorite characters. For a paranormal mystery, MURDER UNDER A MYSTIC MOON is down-to-earth enough for any mystery reader. The mysticism is believable and well-written--there's certainly no Hollywood hype in Emerald's talents or the other mystical occurrences. This is absolutely a wonderful story. If you love mysteries, romances, or the paranormal, MURDER UNDER A MYSTIC MOON is simply a book you cannot pass up! There's even a charm recipe in the back for readers who want to get a little more into the spirit. Good work Ms. Galenorn! I look forward to Emerald's next adventure!
