Granted, Maylene Thibodeaux may indulge a little too much on wine, but Deputy Dorie Berenger never expected a call to Maylene's house to involve drugs and one very wasted alligator.  Seems a certain Louisiana gator got hold of a backpack full of heroin along with someone's finger.  After running a fingerprint, Dorie finds the DEA on her doorstop in the form of a hunky DEA agent who swears he cannot tell her a thing.

Working in a small Louisiana town, Richard Starke finds cooperation from the locals is extremely limited--the locals don't want to help a bossy big city agent.  To win their help in catching a notorious drug smuggler, he needs to play nice and get along with Dorie.  It's not easy when the woman sets his hormones racing.

RUMBLE ON THE BAYOU is an entertaining romance, but at times I felt the action slowed enough that I would grow slightly bored and then walk away.  It happens from time to time, but I tend to prefer books that grab my attention from the start and hold me riveted.

I think that part of my problem occured because the first few chapters were spent with "Dick" putting down Dorie and her townspeople as being backwoods hicks.  It was amusing and true at first, but carrying on grew tiring.  This is a debut novel, and from what I read Jana DeLeon is on to something good.  She masters her settings and if she comes up with characters that I adore from the start, I know her books will be outstanding!
