GIRLS ON FILM is the second installment in the popular A-List Novel Series. If you missed the first book, THE A-LIST, I think you'll have a better grasp of the characters if you pick it up before diving into GIRLS ON FILM. This review also contains spoilers for those that have not read the first book yet, so please be aware. Anna Percy finds life in Los Angeles to be extremely different than back in New York City. Her first day at Beverly Hills High is here, and she intends to put all thoughts of Ben Birnbaum, the guy who dumped her on New Year's Eve, behind her. The problem is Ben wants her back, and he'll do anything he can to prove it. Anna soon finds herself in another, more comfortable, relationship with Adam Flood. However, she isn't about to risk her heart to another LA romance. Instead, she devotes herself to a class project with Sam Sharpe, daughter of an Oscar winning actor. Together they head off to film a movie short at Veronique's - an elite spa. Will she settle in for some pampering and forget that Ben ever existed? I think for me the A-List Novels intrigue me because of the glimpse into Hollywood lifestyles. The money may be nice, but that is about the only appealing aspect. Zoey Dean does an impeccable job with her characters - some down to earth and some so snooty you want to smack them. Plenty of crucial issues are also touched upon. From drug use, pregnancy and alcoholism, GIRLS ON FILM offers parents another off-beat way to discuss some of today's social issues with their teen without making it sound preachy.
