Blueberry “Blue” Waller and her friends come up with the perfect way to deal with boys. If you like a boy, before you let him know you are seriously head over heels, put him on “The Ledge.” Treat him with a bit of distance, keep him an arm's length away, and he can never hurt you. Blue tries out for the high school play and gets a part playing the mother of Heath Cavendish, a hot senior. She is overjoyed, especially when Heath shows interest in her, a freshman. However, she is going to have to remember to keep Heath on the ledge, or she could wind up with a broken heart. PUTTING BOYS ON THE LEDGE is a charming romance, perfect for teens. Blue’s parents were a bit extreme, but many of us dealt with parents who we felt didn’t understand us, so teens will be able to easily empathize with this character. Her efforts to keep Heath in her life, yet be herself are realistic. She is given many choices, and continually trusts in herself. I feel she is a great role model for that reason. It was refreshing to see a teen follow her heart because quite often that is the only way to win.
