Martin Collins, Chief of Police in Warrentown, Virginia has been recalled to his
former rank of lieutenant colonel, in the Air Force Office of Special Investigations (OSI).  He has been asked to head the murder investigation of Major Franklin Talbot. Major Talbot was in last year's news, accused of being gay. Also assigned to the investigation is Major Amanda Gardner, whom Martin had had strong feelings for in a previous investigation. When these two get together, the tension in the air is almost visible.

As the investigation progresses, more murders are committed. Martin and Amanda, working with Lieutenant Simon Santos of the Arlington County PD, are pressed to unravel the clues and find the killer. As additional characters
enter the scene, the usual confusion reigns.

Patrick Davis is a graduate of the United States Air Force Academy, the Army Command and General Staff College, and is a former Major who flew during the Gulf War. While I thought I had identified the killer, it was not until the final pages that I could be sure of my findings. A SLOW WALK TO HELL is a book that all mystery fans will enjoy, as the action moves at a rapid pace to the conclusion.
