Who says that librarians never have any adventures? Despite her sensible clothes and her job at the local library, Ophelia Jensen just can't seem to keep murder and mayhem out of her life. But, then Ophelia is not exactly your run of the mill book maven--as a psychic and a witch, Ophelia often finds that her "gifts" are more trouble than they are worth. She's already been involved in two murder investigations and Detective Comache believes that Ophelia's uncanny ability to find bodies is a bit suspicious. Of course, Ophelia can't exactly let the hard-nosed Comache know how she's always the first at the scene and her need to conceal her powers makes Ophelia suspect number one in Comache's book. When the mysterious Harvester strikes again, will Comache believe that Ophelia is only trying to help nab the villain--or will the sleuthing witch end up behind bars? It is up to Ophelia to find the felon and clear her name before the Harvester strikes again. But, will she solve the mystery in time to save the next victim--or will she end up being "harvested" herself? CHARMED TO DEATH is, frankly, charming! A perfect cozy mystery with an adorable heroine and a great leading man, CHARMED TO DEATH is sure to capture the reader's attention from the very first page. Ophelia and her grandmother Abby are wonderful. Both are bright, brave heroines that certainly don't wait for the men in their lives to save them. Comache is a great counter to Ophelia and his skepticism adds a lot of reality and drama to the story. The mystery itself is very well-spun and written with a great deal of finesse. And, there's even a little romance to lighten the mood. If you were a fan of earlier Ophelia and Abby mysteries, you'll be pleased to note Ophelia has really come into her own as a woman and a witch. A very nice book, Ms. Damsgaard, and certainly one I will read again and again! Good work.
