Senior Editor of People magazine Julie Dam dishes out a tale that is sure to wow fans of Sophie Kinsella. I still can't wrap my head about spending $500 on a pair of shoes, but I did find myself completely unable to put SOME LIKE IT HAUTE down. Alex Simons is a fashion writer for The Weekly. Her job brings her to Paris for Fashion Week. She's got her outfits planned for each day and she's ready to wow them all. Unfortunately, as she gets ready for a big fashion show, she finds her important pair of shoes are missing. This means a shopping trip, and she barely has time! Alex is shocked when she bumps into her high school French teacher, but she has no time for small talk. She has to move on. She's running late. This leads to a horrifying accident that puts Alex's embarrassed face all over the news. She crashes into a runway model. Now mortified, Alex dares not show her face again--or at least until another American, Nick Snow, makes a spectacle of himself. With Nick now all over the news, Alex is able to get back out and hobnob. She's thrilled she did because she lands the interview of a lifetime. Luis-Heinz is an amazing and relatively unknown fashion designer. The problem is that he vanishes before Alex gets her interview. No one knows where Luis-Heinz has gone, but Alex and her friends are determined to find out. Toss this in with a brewing romance with Nick, and Alex's life will never be the same again! SOME LIKE IT HAUTE is witty, sensual, and mesmerizing. It takes the reader into Paris, a most dreamy spot, dishes out a satisfying romance, mystery and comedy all rolled into one. I couldn't get enough of Alex! I raise my glass to Julie Dam for her heartwarming novel and hope she plans on bringing Alex back. I haven't had enough! |
