WHERE'S JAMELA is a cute story about a little girl who doesn't want to move.  Her mother receives a letter telling her that she has a new job and a new home, but Jamela likes her old home.

Jamela looks at all the old things about her house -- her squeaky front gate, the window in her bedroom.  She listens to all the sounds she can hear from the street.  And, of course, she takes in the smell of cooking.  She thinks she will not like her new house.

She grudgingly begins to pack her things, and  puts all that she can into a box that her mama has labeled Jamela's Box.  Meanwhile, Jamela grows tired from all the packing...

Some people from the neighborhood come to help pack their things, and it isn't until everything is in the truck when mama notices that Jamela is nowhere to be seen.  She grows frantic and starts looking for her everywhere.  Mama calls the police to come help her look.  Just where has Jamela gone?.

Niki Daly has created a very cute story to help kids deal with change.  He shows that we can find familiar things in new situations.  My five-year-old daughter loved this book.  She laughed when Jamela fell asleep and her mama couldn't find her.  I would definitely recommend this book, especially for a child going through changes.   Even if there are no changes, this is a delightful story.
