“A
Ladies Guide to the Pursuit of Personal Happiness and Intimate
Fulfillment” sounds innocent unless you are a man and believe the
woman’s place is in the home, as was commonly believed in London
society of that age. While hiding behind a screen, Lady Catherine
overhears several men discussing the vile guide and how they would like
to find the author, Charles Brightmore. Andrew
Stanton, having engaged Lady Catherine in conversation, is at her side
when a shot crashes through the window and injures her. He offers to
accompany her to her home and to act as her protector. When feelings
between them develop into love, they both reveal they have been hiding
secrets from each other. There are other attempts on Catherine and
Andrew. As the book progressed, I was wrapped up in the story and found
it hard to put the book down to attend to other things. What secrets are they hiding? Why are Catherine and Andrew targets? Readers will find this book to be engrossing and impossible to put down.
