When Juliane of Stanora marries a man her father has chosen, there are many attendants in the room to witness the consummation. However, the man fails to be able to perform his duty. Therefore, the marriage is annulled and Juliane is given the name of Lady Frost. Years
later, Ulrich of Caen comes to Stanora to prove that he can warm up the
ice queen, because his reputation is one of a great lover.
She calls him Lord of Nothing, because he has no value of his
own. When her father becomes ill, he arranges the two to be wed.
Before that happens, Juliana is kidnapped and now Ulrich must
save her. Unbeknownst to
him, Juliana has a secret she’s been hiding for many years… I have a confession to make. Most Claudia Dain books are hit or miss with me. I absolutely loved A KISS TO DIE FOR. THE FALL, however, falls short of that earlier mark. Juliana and Ulrich are interesting people in their own right, but I couldn’t keep interested enough to care about them long before the book was over. So if you are a die hard Dain fan, you probably can take the slower pace and tedious details that she puts in her books. However for this reader, there was just too much information.
