The problem with most diet books I see on the market lies in the fact that they are almost always written by slender, fit people.  Was it truly their diet that worked for them or have they always been slender?

I immediately appreciated the before and after pictures that were included with the promotional material I received.  Unfortunately, they are not included in the book, and I think they should be.  If you can get a copy of Good Housekeeping's September 2002 issue, you'll see the proof in front of you.

Kathleen Daelemans weighed 205 pounds and wore a size 22 when she was offered a job as executive chef at the Grand Wailea Resort in Hawaii.  The problem was they needed a chef for spa food, something Kathleen was not familiar with.  However, she didn't want to pass up the opportunity to work in paradise, so she began creating low-fat, high-flavor meals - meals like ginger shrimp with black bean salad.  She also began eating what she cooked, and the pounds started coming off.  After three months, she had lost 30 pounds.  She added exercise to her routine and found herself losing additional weight.  Twelve years later, Kathleen hosts her own show on Food Network and wears a size 6, proof that her recipes work!

GETTING THIN & LOVING FOOD offers sound advice- eating normal portions and adding exercise to your routine.  There are 200 recipes included that will fit every budget and please even the fussiest of eaters.  From Cheesy Baked Veggie Dump-and-Go Casserole to Cashew Chicken and Beef Stroganoff to Dark Chocolate Soufflé Cake, you are bound to find recipes that suit your tastes.
