Futuristic Romance

I’m
not into futuristic/other world romances.
I have a hard time with strange names and places that I can’t
even begin to “see” in my mind. If I have to think too hard about what an author means by a
certain alien phrase, or what their planet looks like, it’s too
distracting for me. Just
like in this one, I had to keep reminding myself to drop the “D” in
the heroine’s name - Djinni-vera (pronounced Jenny). This
alone makes for a harder review. Prince
Tarrant-Arragon has chosen his mate in the half earthling, half Djinn,
Djinni-vera. When she’s
caught on tape as pronouncing him as a brute and a bore in bed, Tarrant-Arragon
does what he must: he
kidnaps her and forces her to marry him. When she discovers his true identity - the very man she has
grown up to despise - she never expects to discover that perhaps her
husband has a few moves that will win her heart. She is a Saurian Knight, hoping to prove herself by bringing Tarrant-Arragon to his knees. She vows to bring down the evil ruler herself and fulfill the prophecy. However, pledged to one, falling in love with another, little does she know that Tarrant-Arragon is the lover of her heart and the enemy of her destiny. After sticking with this, FORCED MATE became more interesting. As I mentioned, it was hard for me to thoroughly lose myself in this book because I had no basis to rely upon. There were earthling customs and alien customs that interchanged, so sometimes I didn’t know exactly what they were doing. But the story was good and the characters were interesting. I loved the interaction between Tarrant-Arragon and Djinni. Secondary characters lent themselves well to the story and plotline. Some of it got a bit tedious for me, but all in all, if you love this kind of book, it’s definitely worth your time.
