HEART'S HOME is one of those books that I would have overlooked years ago.  I have always been a visual reader--book covers lure me in.  To me, the cover is a key aspect.  HEART'S HOME has a cover that doesn't draw my eye, but the story makes it worthwhile.

A marriage proposal is every woman's dream, however Tracey Gordon finds her dream becoming a nightmare.  After her beau, Scotty (named Scotty because of his initials SCT) Tockterman, asks for her hand in marriage, Tracey accepts, but a car with children in the back crashes into the river and Scotty dives in to save the children.  Scotty never resurfaces.

Two weeks pass.  Tracey is still in a state of shock.  Returning home from work, she finds her house has been ransacked.  Soon after a stranger appears at her door - he is Steve Clay Tocktermen.  Tracey and Steve soon learn that someone has been impersonating Steve.  They decide to look into who "Scotty" was and why he chose to steal another man's identity.

HEART'S HOME grabs you from the start.  The writing is crisp and the plot catches your attention.  The revelation doesn't come as a huge surprise, though I had one aspect of it judged incorrectly.  The path to the conclusion is well-worth any lack of surprise.
