Army Brigadier General Samuel Rowland has a problem. He heads up a task force to destroy an Al Qaida laboratory in Afghanistan that is manufacturing a warhead to carry a virulent strain of anthrax before that virus can be turned loose on Americans. One major obstacle is that the laboratory is hidden in a narrow canyon well protected by radar controlled weapons. A previous strike mission has failed with loss of life. Mike Edwards has just completed rebuilding a P51 Mustang, a World War II fighter airplane, and has finally been awarded the FAA certification to fly it. At Oshkosh, Wisconsin, he and three other P51 pilots have been asked to fly a demonstration flight for the crowd. In the crowd is General Rowland. He recognizes the potential that the P51 has for flying the mission to destroy the anthrax laboratory and tries to buy the planes. The collectors will not sell but reluctantly agree to become pilots for his mission. I immediately became wrapped up in the story and found it to be a great story about the P51 airplane and the Afghanistani mission. As a former US Air Force member, I greatly appreciate a good yarn about airplanes. THE EAGLES TALON is such a book.
