Julia Farley escaped her troubled marriage and now is a single mom to teenagers. She freelances from home taking on as many jobs as possible to pay the expenses. Her troubles are only beginning. Her ex-husband has taken to stalking her day and night, and the police are not offering much in the way of protection. Meanwhile, a serial killer is running loose in the Seattle area. Murders are occurring closer and closer to Julia’s home. She fears for her own safety, as well as for her daughters. Could her ex-husband be killing other women in acts of frustration? Solace comes in the form of friendship. At a conference, Julia meets Earl Paulsen, an attorney whose own marriage is faltering. Earl’s friendship fills a void in Julia’s life. But as her friendship with Earl increases, threats and acts of violence increase. Soon Julia wonders if her ex-husband is really behind these acts. Is there an unknown killer waiting and watching for the perfect moment? I eagerly dove into NIGHT STALKER. The premise sounded tense, just the way I like them. From the start, I could tell that I was in for an edge of my seat trip. However, by the sixth chapter, I was sure I had the killer figured out. Granted, I read a lot of mysteries and adore forensic related shows so maybe that explains why certain things stand out. I was disappointed to know that I had nailed the killer’s identity so early in the book. In my opinion, that portion of the storyline was too predictable. When
you read NIGHT STALKER, read it for the dizzying twists.
While the killer was made too obvious to me, others will be
shocked by the outcome. But all in all, the voyage to the conclusion is worthwhile. |
