A modern day fairy tale, KISSING FROGS, takes the old “you have to kiss a lot of frogs to get to a prince” to a different level.  Fun and light-hearted, this is a book that is very cute and playful.

Prince Wolfe of Gwyneddor has been released from his spell as a frog when Lucy Gordon picks him up and kisses him.  True, she had been jubilant because she’d thought she’d found her ticket to stardom and thus her father’s approval by finding a new species of frog.  It took her a while to figure out that her kiss had transformed this medieval prince back into his human form and her frog was gone.

The story he gave her had Lucy doubting his mental stability at first, but as time went by, she began to believe him.  What’s worse, she begins to realize that her attraction to this man might complicate her life in more ways than one.  With a boyfriend who is a Duke, Lucy fights her burgeoning feelings for Wolfe.  With time running out, Wolfe must convince her that she has to fall in love with him in order to release him from the curse.  Can Lucy really find love with a frog prince?

This romance is neither deep nor suspenseful, but a light, fun and charming read that had me chuckling to myself.  Although sometimes I found the tasks that Wolfe does in the 21st century a bit unbelievable, Ms. Altom writes it in a way that almost seems to poke fun at modern men and what women would actually like them to do.  I’ll have to ask her about that.  With a handsome Duke and a hunky prince fighting over Lucy, it’s every woman’s fantasy.  Quirky and light-hearted, KISSING FROGS also has some serious scenes where Wolfe tells his story.  I also feel for him about his children that were left behind in the past.  And the ending - it was just too cute.  KISSING FROGS definitely made me smile as I read through it, and I think you’ll be smiling too when you close the book.
