THE GIRL'S GUIDE TO WINNING A NASCAR DRIVER uses a touch of humor and a lot of insider knowledge regarding one of the most popular sports in American--NASCAR. More than 40% of all NASCAR fans are women and most of them watch to see their favorite guy in action. In Liz Allison's guide, she focuses on currently single NASCAR men and goes into detail about who they are, their dislikes and likes, and offers a good dose of how to land a race car driver and then keep him interested despite a somewhat crazy schedule of racing and practicing. I have to say from the start that I find myself enjoying the book's information, but realistically the odds of a woman winning a NASCAR driver's heart without having a link to the industry are pretty slim. This doesn't mean that it won't ever happen, but chances are you will never get close enough to a NASCAR driver long enough for any spark to be able to fly. I also found myself wondering if a woman would truly want to be involved. I'm a big fan of Tony Stewart after reading an article in ESPN about how his dad was an abusive jerk and helped shape the man that Tony turned into. The tantrums, cussing, and throwing objects all come from his upbringing. I will give Tony credit for turning his life around and trying to overcome his anger issues, but I really can't say that I'd want to be around him after a loss, especially a close race. That's bound to affect any temperamental driver's relationships. If you are a fan of NASCAR, Liz Allison's book will be enjoyable. As for using it as serious dating advice, I'm still up in the air on how useful it really would be.
