It
took courage for young Lady Elizabeth Effington to declare her love for
Sir Nicholas Collingsworth. She
knows he is about to leave for America, and Elizabeth hopes that he will
consider taking her with him. Instead,
Elizabeth’s heart is broken when he refuses to consider her plans.
Elizabeth realizes that she has no option but to accept the
proposal of another childhood friend, Charles, instead. Ten
years have passed and Elizabeth is now a widow with two sons.
When Nick returns, Elizabeth is determined to show him just how
spirited and determined she has become—she has to no choice.
Nick is truly the person who is supposed to be controlling her
finances, per a request stated in her late husband’s will. However,
little does Elizabeth know that Nick really has no plans to interfere in
her finances. It is
Elizabeth, herself, that Nick is after… I
have not read the previous Effington books, so the family was new to me.
However, Victoria Alexander does a fantastic job at making them
feel as though you’ve known them forever.
I didn’t feel out of place at any point with the book. Interlaced with Dickens’ classic, A Christmas Carol, A VISIT FROM SIR NICHOLAS is a wonderfully romantic holiday novel. Fans of historical romance will not want to miss Victoria Alexander’s latest.
