Miss Cassandra "Cassie"
Effington has her ideals set for the sort of man she wishes to marry.
She has determined not to settle for less. Cassie is sometimes
considered "eccentric" by the ton because she's so bold as to refuse
offers of marriage. Instead she focuses on her career. Cassandra,
"Cassie", is the most frustrating, opinionated woman Lord Reginald
Berkley, "Reggie", has ever met. Likewise, Reggie is everything Cassie
has never wanted in a mate - he's a rake and she's determined that she
will NOT reform such a man.
Thrown together after the The Ladies Betterment Society for the Future
of Britain set their sights on both Cassie and Reggie, the pair become
fast friends and decide to help one another find their dream mate.
Cassie is determined to find and wed Lord Perfect, while Lord Berkley is
looking for Miss Wonderful. To thicken the fun, they agree to a wager
on who can produce the other's mate first.
Will Cassie find a Miss Wonderful for Reggie? Will she continue to deny
that the rakish man is everything she's ever dreamed to find? Will
Reggie be successful in his quest to find a Lord Perfect and prove to
Cassie that perfection can be far from perfect?
THE PURSUIT OF MARRIAGE is the follow up to Ms. Alexander's previous
novel The Lady in Question. The heroines in these two novels are twin
sisters and are quite delightful. Ms. Alexander captured me from the
very first words and I could not put this page-turner down.
Victoria Alexander never fails to provide an outstanding and exciting
tale. There are moments in this book when I didn't dare breathe and
others when I was laughing out loud. This is a book I'll read again and
again - and I'll again wait with bated breath for Ms. Alexander's next
release.
