Bex and her assistant Sasha are on a mission to find the killer and have an exclusive for the 24/7 American News Channel. Bex has several possible suspects to interview regarding the murder of Igor Marchenko. There is Gary, Igor’s rival since Igor defected to the United States in 1977, who is now the coach of Lian. Amanda is Lian’s mother who thinks Lian is the best ice skater ever. Before Igor’s death, he was training Jordan, a fabulous skater, who is emancipated from her parents. Igor’s defection ruined many lives including his mother’s and sister’s, Gary’s, and Igor former coach’s lives. Although Bex’s researching job usually doesn’t involve solving crime, it is her job to solve this crime. Adams writes an easy to read, but at the same time interesting, story about the life inside the world of professional ice skaters. Her background as a figuring skating researcher at ABC News enables Adams to produce a true to life story about the happenings at a world championship in ice-skating. Also, Adams brings in true events from history such as the Cold War to add to the reality as this ice skating murder mystery unfolds.
