Divorcee and single mom Lenna Swanson is doing her best to fit into her new life in Idaho. Her teenaged son, Kenny, also faces the same difficulties as he adjusts to yet another new town. Both are used to moving from place to place as Lenna’s husband was an Air Force pilot, but they find themselves tested at practically every turn. More so when they receive news that Kenny’s absent father has been killed during a training mission. Kenny’s bright spot is a rodeo star named Roddy Moyers. The boy idolizes him. When Lenna begins a relationship with Roddy, their difficulties will only increase. LOVE AND COUNTRY is a very detailed, visual novel. It isn’t a quick read, but it is definitely descriptive and emotional. You cannot expect to rush through this book in one sitting; with all the details and limited dialogue, you have to savor it. Don’t expect a romance, while the book is romantic, there is far more too it than that. Christina Adam includes a comprehensive discussion guide that will make it a popular choice for reading groups!
